Callaway Diablo Octane Tour Driver

The Callaway Diablo Octane Tour Driver is fueled by Forged Composite, which is the lightest, strongest material ever used in golf clubs. The new Diablo Octane Driver features that Forged Composite in the crown, giving it a significant performance advantage over all-titanium drivers. These drivers are configured to deliver unmatched power through superior design, construction and materials. The crown contains 10 million turbostratic carbon fibers that make up 33% of the clubhead, allowing Callaway to precisely control thickness like never before. The result is a clubhead that is lighter but still has an extremely high moment of inertia. This lighter clubhead enables a longer club configuration for faster head speed and ball speed for up to eight additional yards over the Diablo Edge. The chemical milling process selectively removes excess material for precision thickness control across the face and consistently high ball speeds for long distance.

Additional Features:

        1. Shaft: Project X Tour
        2. No offset
        3. Grip: Callaway Rubber Composition
        4. Crown Construction: Composite
        5. Face Construction: Titanium
        6. USGA conforming groove

The new revolutionary Callaway Diablo Octane Driver is much lighter, faster, and longer than its predecessor. "It's really designed for the guy who is interested in distance, distance and more distance," says Dr. Alan Hocknell, Callaway's senior vice president of research and development.

A lighter club head that retains an extremely high MOI. The Diablo Octane Driver powers drives beyond those of its all-titanium predecessor, the Diablo Edge Driver, by an average distance of 8 extra yards. Experience the most powerful driver ever imagined – the Diablo Octane Driver with Forged Composite.

Forged Composite is the result of a unique partnership between the R&D teams of Callaway and supercar maker Lamborghini. Forged Composite is one-third the density of titanium, yet features a greater load carrying capacity per unit mass in bending. The Callaway Diablo Octane Driver crown contains 10 million turbostratic carbon fibers – 500,000 per square inch – set with six tons of force during the forging process to reinforce 33 percent of the clubhead. These ultra-light, thin-walled components result in lower total head weight and optimized mass properties that make the Diablo Octane Driver lighter, faster, stronger.

Callaway uses Hyperbolic shaping and a unique chemical reduction process to strategically remove excess material from areas of the titanium face and achieve precision thickness control. This produces consistently high ball speeds for long distance, even on off-center hits and on shots hit across all areas of the face.

Slightly more traditional head design. The key is the upgrade shaft. The Project X shaft is low spinning creating a more boring ball flight and less of a bell curve on tee shots.

Highly recommended

I bought this driver based on a recomondation and a description and pictures i had seen. Before my purchase i had not seen this driver in person. It blew my expectations away. It's easy to hit and the face is so deep it seems like you couldn't miss a drive if you tried.
